Nobody can beat the Italians when it comes to romance. Some people may argue that it is the French who should win the romance medal, but you have to hand it to the Italians when it comes to the steamy side of things. Add a surprise to this, and you have a winning mix.
There are many great places to stay in Rome. The city itself is teeming with culture and heritage that is hard to find anywhere else. There is something to do at every hour of the day or night that's because Rome never sleeps. However, you may need to sleep at some stage so it is your best bet to book your accommodation earlier rather than later. Rome is busy all year round, and in tourist season the best hotels and holiday resorts get snapped up very quickly.

These monuments viewed at night from a high vantage point could possibly be one of the most romantic things you could do. If you hire a car and just tell your partner that you are taking a drive together and you suddenly come to a stop above the city, you will keep the surprise theme going.
