Neopolitan Mastiff And Tips Before Adopting

Being a Neopolitan Mastiff breeder I would like to make a few points to ease the decision to adopt them.If you have ever seen a Neapolitan Mastiff, also called a Neopolitan Mastiff, you were probably amazed at his size.

Neapolitan Mastiffs come in different colors, black, brown and blueish. This is a beautiful dog - so many are considering growing a Neapolitan mastiff.Let's look at the pros and cons of growing one in your home with your kids and other pets. They are very loyal to their owners but need special training starting early in their lives to become obedient. You as the owner must make sure he would never use his size and strength to harm anyone.

Training these powerful dogs may need professional advice. Getting a good book dedicated to mastiff care could be most valuable in this case. Consulting with a specialized Neopolitan Mastiff breeder may be valuable too.

Neapolitan Mastiffs are sociable and loving dogs if trained right. Still, they are intolerant to other dogs and strangers alike. This makes them great watch dogs and guardians but might become dangerous and proper training is essential in preventing biting and harming other people and pets.

If the mastiff is brought into the house as a puppy and grows up around the family and kids - then you can be quite sure he would not harm any family member.

Bringing an adult mastiff into the house might be a whole different story.Mastiffs are easily teased into being angry thus becoming extremely dangerous, biting, causing serious injuries and even death.

Still growing a mastiff puppy around the family will prove to have a loving loyal guard dog around the house - which many find useful and important.

Once the mastiff grows older he becomes calmer. This is a quite dog that does not bark very much while indoors. Outdoors they may chase other animals to hunt them down - so a good leash is vital while walking him.

Daily walks and exercise are required to keep the mastiff in shape. On the other hand, as with other large dog breeds extensive exercise might cause the dog hip dysplasia - a painful medical situation that could be avoided by moderate exercise.

Obviously, Neapolitan mastiffs need to be fed high quality food and have plenty of fresh water handy. Their nutrition is important and amounts of food they consume are quite large. These dogs require adding supplements to their diets to keep them in top condition.

Grooming is very easy; brushing them would keep shedding to a minimum. As a mastiff breeder I can testify that once they are trained to be obedient, there is no other dog breed that can make you feel as loved and protected as a mastiff. Growing a Neopolitan mastiff can be a wonderful experience.
