For some reason, some of the most popular bars are those which are frequented by tourists. Not only this, but the bars are also themed in a non-Spanish way. If you want to meet British guys or girls, the Irish pubs off C/Ferran are always a safe bet. You will also be able to catch all the British sport on the numerous TV sets adorning the walls of the pubs. There are many fine hotels and holiday apartments in the area, so you will not have far to walk to get to any of these venues.
If you are looking for something quainter, then your best bet would be to visit the older parts of Barcelona. In this way you will not only see the real culture of Barcelona, but you will also meet a mote local flavour. They say that the Mediterranean people possess a certain romance that cannot be quantified, and this is where you will find that out first hand.
Tapas are a Spanish dining tradition and are served at most local venues. By having delicious food at the bars and pubs, you do not have to venture to several places in order to eat and then drink. Bar Pasta is another place with a bit of Barcelona magic. As a small bar which lies down a back alley off Ramblas, this place is famous for its authentic Spanish vibe, mixed with a hint of old French. The food is of a good quality and the drinks are not too overpriced. The best time to go is after 9.30pm, but you should get there a bit earlier if you want to secure a table.
There are many hotels and holiday resorts that are situated in the old areas of Barcelona. Accommodation is not always easy to come by, especially in the peak season. It is therefore in your best interests to book in advance so that you can find a hotel or holiday apartment that you are happy with. A good tip would be to find accommodation in close proximity to the nightlife.
