How To Profit From Antique Pottery

If you are interested in investing, consider the hobby of collecting antique pottery. There a hundreds, maybe even thousands of unique, antique pottery pieces that can be bought and sol online for a profit. It may even be a safer investment than others, particularly in today's economy. Here is how you can start a hobby collecting antique pottery.

Set a budget. Antique pottery has an incredibly vast price range. You might find a ceramic mug for $25, or you may find a porcelain vase for $4,000. It truly depends on how much you are willing to invest in your pottery. The older and more original the piece is, the more expensive it will be. With time, the pieces may only go up in value, so consider that when setting your budget.

Shop for authentic pieces. If you are able to find an antique shop or a pottery shop in your local area or at least a drive away from home, you are in luck. It is much easier to determine the age and quality of an antique pottery piece if you can see it live. If not, there are plenty of websites on the internet that you can use to shop for pottery. These website will always have photographs of the items for you to see. Choose carefully, and make sure that what you are buying is original, old, and not terribly damaged.

Wait for a few years. Like I mentioned earlier, antique pottery will only become more valuable as time passes. Collect a few quality items and hang on to them for a while. Take good care of them, and wait for the value to get a little higher.

Sell your collection. After a time, your antique pottery will go up in value and that is when you may want to sell it. You can list your antiques online, or have a live sale of your own. If you are going to sell it online, make sure that you give clear, close, quality pictures for website viewers to see. You might also want to consider submitted the antiques to an auction. That is a great way to earn a quality return on your investment.

Do your homework. Learn about which items will have the most appreciation over time and opt for those. If you choose the right ones, you can make a wonderful profit. Enjoy it, and may you make plenty of money.
