Breast enlargement is one of the most commonly requested aesthetic operations, with more than one and a half million procedures performed in the United States to date. There are women who are able to adjust very well after a mastectomy and do not desire breast reconstruction but, because of increasing public awareness concerning the success of this procedure, a higher percentage of women are electing to be reconstructed. Newer, safer and more successful techniques have resulted in a large number of different procedures.
