Tips to Remove Deep-Rooted Acne Scars

By nature, our skin keeps on renewing itself. The topmost layer of the skin is called the epidermis. Epidermis has three layers. The cells from the lower layers of the epidermis keep getting pushed to the top layers as they are produced and the old skin on the top layers flakes off. These skin layers are so minute that it is not noticeable to the naked eye.

Acne scars that are old are due to the result of deep rooted scars that do not get healed naturally. There are treatments available today that help ease out the deep acne scars to improve the appearance of the skin to a great extent. Although, a permanent cure may not always be possible in severe cases, some of the treatment methods of today can provide a great improvement of the existing condition.

For very mild acne, the scars do not extend beyond the topmost layer and hence the scarred skin gets peeled off and replaced immediately as soon as the acne disappears. However, if the acne is severe, the scar tissue is likely to span many layers of the skin and hence, it might take longer than usual to clear out completely. At times, the scar might extend beyond the epidermis into the next layer dermis. In such cases, natural skin renewal may not be of much help. Even the new cells that get formed will contain the acne scars.

The treatment methods should keep the skin's natural healing process intact and work towards aiding the skin's natural renewal process. Some of the popular treatment methods available are Microdermabrasion, Chemical treatment for acne scars, laser treatment etc. An appropriate treatment could be chosen which is suitable for ones skin needs. With some of the methods, though they provide a permanent cure, it may not be appropriate to expect an overnight cure. Patience is very important when it comes to treating old acne scars.
