Tips For Controlling Motion Sickness When Traveling By Airplane

Motion sickness is a terrible thing to have to deal with, especially when you are traveling by airplane. If you are traveling long distances, than it must be an even bigger pain to go through. Sometimes, a trip may not be enjoyable because motion sickness can continue to affect a person even after he or she gets off an airplane. However, there are ways to control motion sickness. Granted, motion sickness affects people differently. Here are some tips and methods to get a hold of motion sickness so that you can enjoy your trip as well as the ride.

Read The Directions On Your Motion Sickness Medication Carefully

There exists many different types of motion sickness medications. As this is true, these different medications all have different directions and suggested dosages. It would be in your best interest to read these directions for each medication very carefully so that you can verify that you are consuming these in the proper manner.

For instance, products such as Dramamine require that you take the medication around six or eight hours before you travel in order for it to be fully absorbed by your body and circulated into the proper places. It is common knowledge that directions should be read carefully for any type of medication one takes, and there is no difference or exceptions for motion sickness medication.

Alcohol Consumption Prior to Your Flight

It is best that you do not consume large or even moderate amounts of alcohol the day before or right before your flight. Alcohol can cause the motion sickness to worsen. Of course, this varies from person to person so if you do consume alcohol on a regular basis prior to flights and suffer from motion sickness, try abstaining from alcohol and see if this helps you out some.

Natural Remedies For Motion Sickness

Ginger has been said to be an excellent treatment for motion sickness. While I do not know the actual reason why ginger helps, ginger has proven to be an excellent treatment for stomach aches and upset stomach.

It is understandable that most people would not want to just bite into a chunk or raw ginger because ginger has a very strong and unique taste to it. Products such as organic ginger ale or sugared ginger preserves will do the trick of masking the strong taste of plain old raw ginger. Just be sure that the ginger product that you consume has real ginger and not just artificial ginger flavoring.

The tips listed above should be sufficient for helping you cure, or cope with at the least, the problem of motion sickness. So travel safely and have fun!
