Evolved from previous generations of lingerie, more and more exotic lingerie has hit the market recently as melding underwear with outerwear has become more socially acceptable. In the early to mid 1990s, exposed underwear such as thong panties resulted in the moniker whale tail as a negative connotation. However, evolving once again, womens undergarments, 10 years later no less, have become a mainstay in the social fabric (pun intended) as club wear.
Once only boudoir wear, the camisole has become one of the most adaptable pieces of lingerie. This tight fitting thinly strapped piece has now replaced the blouse in more than club applications. Another modification is the halter top version that basically serves the same purpose, yet allows a different styling to exist. The newest versions allow draping and low cut neck lines that give the impression that youre already half ready for bed with only a skirt, jeans or other bottoms to foil the illusion.
The thong panty is revered as covering the sweet spot without covering the assets. Sensual, seductive, yet somehow now socially the norm, this piece is now coined as butt floss for its ability to go freely where most women have spend an eternity removing them from such a resting place. Once only worn by the most daring women and, of course, strippers, these little creeps have been applied to women of all sizes, even plus sizes.
With modesty being an obsolete trait, exotic lingerie has become the uniform for Americas porn approved culture. With the logic that what is OK and legal on the beach meets community standards, not even fashion police can stop more revealing outfits such as booty shorts, sarongs and even mesh sheer skirts from being worn everywhere. Although Southwest airlines attempted to remove a passenger for wearing a panty exposing jean skirt in 2007, seemingly nothing can stop the cavalcade of new evolutionary styles and applications.
What was once reserved for exotic dancers has now infiltrated our culture. From an entire skirt made from lace, a halter top tied in the front, to frilly micro crop tops, all are not part of our contemporary fashion lexicon. Now, a split in your dress may even occur by design with the slit leg jumper. This piece gives the allusion of seeing the side of the leg, rising up as far as you dare, while coming in a length that is comparable to a ballroom gown.
