How to Fix a Broken Watch By Victor Epand
Fixing a broken watch can be a complicated issue. There is certainly no cure-all "fix it" routine that will apply to all of the many different styles and materials that watches are made in. While this is true, the problem of a broken watch is generally the same. If your watch is broken, it won't display the correct time. As busy as our lifestyles are, having a broken watch can pose quite in inconvenience. Here are some things that you can do to get your watch fixed.
First of all, if you watch has simply stopped, for no apparent reason at all, figure out why. It might just have a dead battery, and all you have to do is replace it. Make sure that you find out the exact type of battery that your watch needs, because one size does not fit all. Another reason why your watch may have stopped is do to water or fluid exposure. If your watch is not water-resistant, the inner parts may have been damaged. For that issue, you might need to have a professional replace the non-working parts.
If your watch face is cracked, it might be possible to replace it with another piece of glass or plastic. Some watches are one of a kind, and replacing a single part of the watch might prove to be extremely difficult. In a case where your watch did not cost that much to begin with, it might be cheaper just to go ahead and purchase a new one.
The watch band is an easier part to replace. Watch shops or jewelers might be able to give you a new watch band, or fix the current band for you. You will have to part with your watch for a short while, but it will be worth it in the end. Since the band is not part of the mechanical workings of the watch, it is a much less complicated thing to repair or replace.
Self-repair is not recommended, especially for expensive watches. If you open up your watch and try to take it apart, you might not know how to put it back together. The best thing to do is take your watch to a professional who is trained to deal with all of the intricate details of watch repair. This might cost quite a bit of money, so if you didn't spend that much on that particular watch to begin with, just buy another one.
