5 Reasons to Use Remote Backup

5 Reasons to Use Remote Backup

Have you ever experienced a computer crash before? They can be one of the worst things that can happen to you as far as technology is concerned. Everything seems to be running quite well and then suddenly, everything is gone.

No matter how many times you try to turn the computer on or what you do, it is all in vain. Then suddenly it dawns on you, all of your data that you had, pictures, music and e-mail is all gone. It's usually only after you experience such a tragedy that you can actually appreciate how handy a remote backup actually is. It isn't only for data loss, however. Here are five reasons why it is a good idea to use remote backup.

Reasonably Priced - Believe it or not, backing up your data on a regular basis can be quite expensive if you're trying to do it locally. First of all, you have to get the proper hardware in order to be able to run your backups periodically without having to wait on them to complete. You also need to worry about off-site storage if you really want to keep your data secure from problems. If you use remote backup, you pay a small monthly fee and you can automatically backup your data overnight, while you sleep.

Security - The last thing that you want to have happen is for your data to be compromised in some way. It would be a very simple thing if you stored your data locally for a rogue employee or somebody with a grudge to pick up the tape or backup drive, take it home and compromise all of your security measures. When you back your data up using a remote backup service, this no longer becomes an issue because nobody has access to it if they do not have the log in details.

Safe from Natural Disasters - If you live in an area that is prone to natural disasters, even if they only happen on occasion, you must use remote backup in order to make sure that your data is absolutely secure. If you keep your local data backup in the same natural disaster area, you can easily lose both of them at the same time should a disaster strike. Even though we hope that no disasters happen, it is always a good idea to be covered, just in case.

Easy Data Management - If you happen to have a corrupted file or if something should go wrong whenever you are in the middle of something important, you can always log in to the remote data center and download the file again. This will save you from running after any local backups that may exist.

Protection from Data Loss - Just as we spoke about before, you want to make sure that you are absolutely secure from any data loss. Computers do break from time to time so make sure that you are as secure as possible by keeping a copy of your data on a remote server.
