Acne skincare, what you should know. By Robert Singleton
If you are one of the people who suffer with acne (Zits) then you are well aware of the distress and problems it causes; fortunately, the problems it causes are being investigated. It is one of those areas where research has continued to make advancements; this is good news with the range of effective skin care treatments improving all the time. Acne skin care products all fall into one of three main categories:
Internet or Drugstore: Treatment that helps prevents condition
Over-the-counter
Prescription: Dermatologist or Doctor, specialist cream or ointment
Preventative products are formulated to treat the skin in an effort to control the occurrence of acne; products like skin cleansers and toners fall into this category. In the real sense, these products are just those that should be part of your daily routine; there use is not just confined to individuals who are suffer with the complaint. There are acne skin care products that are more specialized in there approach; they clean out the pores to help stop sebum or oil which can clog these areas. Excess oil needs to be stopped from clogging the pores as this oil make it easier for bacteria to grow, exacerbating the condition.
General skin care treatments also include special exfoliation products like skin peels; most can even be purchased over the Internet in addition to normal outlets. They work by reducing oil plus other contaminants from the skin and in the pores; this can reduce harmful bacteria and stop their chance of growth. The growth of the skin care market has allowed even more specialized acne skin care products to be available without the need to visit the doctor. These products have benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid as ingredients which cause a bad reaction in the bacterium. they are designed to extract the excess oil that bacteria need to promote the development of acne.
It is preferable when you first start using this type of product to keep the concentration of it low, around 5.5 percent is best; if a reaction occurs, a cleaner or cream containing alpha hydroxy acid should be safe. As with any type of zit cream, you may need to try a few acne skin care products until you find one that will suit your skin; if none of them work then you would be advised to contact your skin specialist. Products that your dermatologist or doctor will recommend will only be available on prescription, they may include a course of antibiotics or topical ointments.
In some case your doctor may suggest the pustules are drained of harmful contents under local anesthetic; however, sufferers are warned never to attempt this as it could lead to serious skin problems. Another effective course of skin care treatment is hormone therapy; studies show that hormone based skin care treatments often prove effective. Positive research means that a sufferer does not have to put up with this condition anymore.
