Do Not Remain Unprotected Against Spyware

Spyware and adware, which are two similar, yet very different kinds of malware, are a real plague for users. Adware is software, which once installed on your system, displays popups even when you are disconnected from the Internet. Spyware is the more dangerous type of malware, because it monitors your activities and collects personal information about you, which later it sends to its authors. The information spyware collects about you can vary from a list of the sites you have visited recently to social security and credit card numbers to passwords.
For instance, it is common when your computer has been infected by spyware to experience slowdown of your computers operation and frequent hangs. Many programs, most frequently Internet Explorer, will also stop working because of the presence of spyware. Using an anti-virus program does not help a lot because most anti-virus programs are exactly this � an anti-virus and not an anti-adware or an anti-malware program. If the anti-virus program you are using is not specially designed to watch for and remove adware and spyware as well, then you actually have no protection. Some of the best anti-virus programs, which also offer anti-adware and anti-spyware protection are McAfee VirusScan, Trend Micro PC-Cillin, and Norton AntiVirus.
One of the symptoms of a spyware/adware infection is a computer, which all of a sudden becomes very slow and hangs all the time. If your computer behaves like that, the best you can do is hurry up and get a good tool to disinfect it. There are many great free programs but as you can guess, the top of the crop are paid programs.
One of the doorways through which spyware and adware sneak into your computer are free downloads. It is supposed that the programs you download do not have such nasties but sometimes, when you don�t bother to read the license agreement, you just let them in. Yes, it is written in the license agreement that if you install the �free� software, you agree to install some additional components (i.e. adware and spyware) as well. Pop-up blockers help, especially against adware. The toolbars MSN and Google offer are among the best tools for blocking popup windows. Another way for adware and spyware to enter your system is when you click on a suspicious link, so avoid doing this as well.
For those of us, who use the Internet on a daily basis, getting a high quality anti-adware and anti-spyware program is simply mandatory because they are more than a cleaning tool. These programs can prevent spyware and adware from penetrating your computer. Even if you can�t afford to buy the best anti-adware and anti-spyware software, get what you can afford but don�t stay unprotected.
You can easily obtain free adware and spyware removal programs from the Internet. These programs are an indispensable helper in your fight against these nasty pests and they can make it easier for you to not to let them in.
