Cash Cows Of the Internet Are Social Networking Websites

MySpace is known far and wide by a range of many people. It is a social networking website which offers personal profiles, blogs, groups, photos, music, videos, and an interactive, user-submitted network of friends.

The headquarters of MySpace is located in Beverly Hills, California in the United States. It shares an office building with its immediate owner, Fox Interactive Media. The owner of Fox Interactive, and therefore MySpace, has its headquarters in New York City, New York.

MySpace is currently the world's sixth most popular English-language website, according to Alex Internet, but it is also the sixth most popular website in any language. It is also the third most popular website in the United States, even though it has topped in charts in several, yet various weeks. MySpace does not have just adult or teenage users anymore.

The site has attracted kids around the age of fourteen and younger. Most parents fear for their children's safety and tend to ban their child or children from using the site. Parents that worry about this should actually be talking to their kids about the dos and dont's. Parents should be aware of their child having a MySpace account, and they should also warn the child that there are people out there who want to take advantage of them.

In January of 2008, guidelines were written for online safety for MySpace and other services by 49 states' attorney generals. MySpace also has a new policy that requires age verification for its users, and they have started to delete inappropriate images from them site. Another popular networking website is Facebook.

Facebook is very similar to Myspace, although Facebook is not as widely used. Facebook used to be merely used by those in college, but in September of 2006, the rules were changed to where anyone 13 or older could join. This measure has helped keep many kids off of the page. The site's recent decision to let anyone over 13 join has led to the site's boom in members, equally to approximately 60 million.

Facebook has, as Myspace as well, been used in many police investigations, but it is also used by some employers to discover how an employee conducts him or herself when not at work. Facebook is also notable for being the number one photo uploader on the internet, where it receives well over 14 million uploads on a daily basis.
