If you own a high definition television you can get high definition content! There are three options open to you: over-the-air signals, cable or satellite. Over-the-air signals... recollect the old relic antennas on all the roofs back in a day.
Well consider it or not they are coming back in style! Only these are the hd antenna type that are specially designed to get signals that are digital and encode in HD. Another large plus over this antenna compared to the old analog is with and high definition antenna you will not get ghosting or static.
This is because the signal now will be in a digital format. So now you either get the signal or you don't! That's the beauty of digital. Over-the-air (OTA) signals are ziltch to acquire. The only out of wallet expenditure would be for the hdtv antenna itself needful to recognize them.
To find HD programming from your cable/satellite provider you would need to subscribe to their High def bundle. Be aware tho' that this subscription is not free. The company might require a minimum length of service and generally charge an additional fee to receive your near-by hi def channels.
Does a HDTV mean I'm watching high definition? No. Just owning a high definition television is the premiere step in watching HD movies. Does your TV have a HD receiver?
The receiver will either be built into the television or an outside set-top box is required. The set-top boxes can be bought in virtually any electronics warehouse, but most will come from your cable or satellite provider. Eventually you'll either have to subscribe to a package or buy an antenna for over-the-air (OTA) reception.
Once you have all of these requirements in place then it is up to you to locate an HD channel to get started watching hd material. What do all the numbers mean? HDTV programming is encoded with a type of resolution: 720p, 1080i or 1080p. The numbers stand for the amount of lines embedded within the signal.
The letter signifies the type of scan your TV uses to produce the picture. The 'i' means interlaced and the 'p' means progressive. In the end. HDTV is the highest form of digital television. It has an aspect ratio the same as a film theater display.
This likely is the number one reason this format has become such a hit. The added is the clarity (resolution). HDTV is the best obtainable digital source to date. Revel the new digital coming!!
