What You Should Know About Gas RC Model Planes

Gas powered RC airplanes are some of the best model planes to fly, especially if you are an expert. There are also models, which are suitable for beginners as well. But, before you fly, you need to figure out different types of RC model planes, so that you choose the right one, to have a smooth ride.

In the first place, you must know that the gas powered RC planes use the combustion engine technique. Compressed Carbon dioxide gas is let to come out from the back of the plane, to propel the gas planes. These engines are modified further to include pistons. Glow engine is another type of engine used by many hobbyists. This engine also employs the same internal combustion method as in a normal car. Only the engine is a very small version of the real one. The engine uses a mixture of methanol and nitro methane, which are slow burning gases and some kind of oil lubricant.

Gas powered RC airplanes are not as easy to fly as the electric RC planes. The controls of the gas powered RC airplanes are more complicated than the electric ones. The gas planes are faster in flight and can take a lot more time airborne than other types of model planes. This makes them more sought after by the experienced pilots, who find them fun to fly. But these qualities of RC model planes are not so suitable for the beginners and so they should start with electric models. When it comes to the cost factor, the gas powered RC airplanes are costlier than the electric ones. Though you spend more money on these gas RC model planes, it is worth since they offer a more rewarding experience flying them. They are more engaging and make the pilots do a lot more, to make the flying experience more fun. The gas powered RC planes are also not so easy to maintain, since one has to be careful of what gas to use in the engines and secure them well, to avoid spills and other damages.

But, if you are a beginner, you shouldn't be discouraged with the above- mentioned qualities, which don't seem to favor you. There are a number of gas powered RC airplanes models in the market today, which have been designed especially for the beginners. There are some gas RC trainers, which are made for this purpose, so that you can easily fly them, even without an instructor. These trainers are cheap enough that could be used by novices without worrying so much about the cost. There are a variety of Nitro powered RC trainers, which could be a good launching pad for a beginner.

Nitro powered RC airplanes trainers resemble a Cessna 150 with their wings placed above the cabin and high above the fuselage. This configuration makes these models more stable and easier to control. They are also well designed to have their wings away from the tail, to make it easy to control, even at low speed.

Hence, gas RC model planes offer a great flying experience, though they are costlier and difficult to maneuver.
