The Art Of Link Baiting

There aren't a lot of people who have heard about link baiting. Perhaps they're thinking that the process can be a little bit complicated. The truth is it's not. The logic is actually pretty simple and very obvious. As the name implies, your main reason for link baiting is to attract inbound links to the different pages of your website.

Why do you have to pursue link baiting?

There are two good reasons why link baiting is an excellent technique. First of all, it can improve the strength of your pages. The more inbound links your webpage has, the stronger it will become. As you know, search engines are attracted to webpages that are considered strong. Hence, you will enjoy much better search engine rankings.

Second, you will be ranking not only on your targeted keywords or phrases, but also in related terms. This is very important if you want to improve your chances of being seen in search engines. For example, if you are operating a website about acne treatments, then those who are building websites that promote beauty and wellness. Thus, there's a huge possibility that your webpages will show not only in the keyword acne treatments but you may also show up for beauty and wellness. Keep in mind that besides ranking, you want traffic going to your site for better sales conversion rate. Link baiting can help you achieve that.

How do you perform link baiting?

Perhaps what you need to focus on right now is how to actually do link baiting. After all, you already have a good idea as to the reason why you need to do it. To help you out, here are some techniques that you need to keep in mind:

1. Know what your Internet visitors want from you. You will never get linked if you don't give them the kind of material that they are currently looking for. Hence, with a little research, you will get to know what appeals to them. For example, if you are developing a health and wellness product, and you are hoping to get links from websites operated or catering to mothers, you may like to develop a how-to article on how they can save their cash by developing home-made remedies.

2. Create the page that will be worth linking to. When you already have an idea of what they're looking for, it's high time that you create these pages. How do you do it? There are practically a lot of ways. Articles still work very well to them, but you have to make sure that they are highly engaging and very convenient to read.

You can make use of bullets and numbered lists to improve the overall look of your articles. Other methods may include podcasts and videos. They add variety to your linker's webpages and thus would definitely appeal to them too. Ensure that you can provide as much options as you can for linking. Think of YouTube. They have URLs and embed code.

3. Perform a test to your page. Before you officially launch the page, you need to get a feel first if you're doing the right thing. The easiest way is to allow your group of friends or family members to read what you've done. Make sure that it's going to be their first time to read your article, listen to your podcast, or watch the video.

Observe their reactions or, better yet, get feedbacks from them. Another trick is to post your link to message boards and in groups. Normally, they will be more than happy to provide you with the feedbacks that you need. Ensure that you can take note of all those suggestions as they can surely help you to enhance your page for link baiting.

4. Launch the page. The main difference between no. 3 and 4 is that with the former you only have that one page. It's not being linked yet to any of your webpage, such as to your homepage. When you're ready, you can just add the link to your website.

If you think that it's going to attract a substantial number of people, you may always place the link right at your homepage or navigation menu. If you have a blog that's also constantly visited, you may add it too as a new post. You can also add it in your resource page, but there's a huge possibility that it may not be constantly visited.

Don't forget to also promote your web page for link baiting in different media centers. For example, you can write a press release with an appropriate link going to this specific web page. You also need to monitor the performance of your page. How many are actually linking to you? If you're not doing well, then you may need to do some modifications.
