A Tragic Story And A Lesson Learned About Remote Backup

A Tragic Story And A Lesson Learned About Remote Backup

John was like most people. He had two children, a nice house, and a "state of the art" digital camera that had bought on sale at Wal-Mart.

He was also the proud owner of a top of the line computer, a place where he stored both the countless family pictures he has taken, plus the crucial business contact he relied on every day for the consulting business he owned and operated.

John had heard a little bit about data backup for his computer, and he had even read up on something called "remote data backup". However, like all great business men, John knew how to save money on everything, and he knew how to improvise with the best of them. Instead of going with a remote backup plan, he decided to store all of his data on a couple of spare CD's that he had lying around.

Things went well for a while. John backed up, manually, his CD's every week (or at least he tried to), and he was actually quite proud of himself that he was able to save all of this money by not using a remote backup service.

Then one day tragedy struck! A fire caught blaze in his office, and everything that John had stored there was soon turned to ashes, even his backup CD and computer. He was up a creek without a paddle, losing data that had both monetary and sentimental value to him; and all this just to save a few dollars a month on a remote backup service.

Don't let what happened to John happen to you!

People often think that they can save themselves some money by backing up their data themselves. However, they will usually pay the price of a remote backup plan many times over in headaches when they lose all of their precious data due to a tragic physical accident.

In reality, remote backup for your computer is only $30 or so a month; and the added benefits are easily worth their weight in gold. A good remote backup service will backup automatically, thus saving its user the headache of having to remember to back up their data manually.

Also, it's offsite, making a remote backup plan a very secure alternative to keeping the CD's or external hard drive in the same location as your computer.

Plus, some of the premier remote backup plans have a 30 day free trial offer, making it possibly for any computer user to test it out risk-free to see if it's for them.

For those who keep anything of value on their computer, whether it be at home or at the office, a remote backup plan is one of the best options to consider when looking for a way to keep your data safe and secure.
