Why Do I have Mold

Many times if we discover a little drip under our bathroom or kitchen sink, or perhaps someplace in the basement, you will ignore it and will not fix it quickly enough. Maybe we have just noticed a pipe that has leaked for a while. When there has been water has been in place for any long length of time, there can be the chance of mold.

If we find a spot in the home where there is mold growth, it is smart to never touch it unless you are protected. That also includes a mask so you can not take in the air near it. Deadly mold spores move through the air and breathing them in is risky. Toxic mold spores causing sickness is very likely. Always wear a mask when you are cleaning up mold. When there is a big situation such as locating mold that might have been present in a cabinet and has penetrated the sheet rock or wood, you might want an expert to come over and evaluate the area.

All of the affected area should be checked and taken care of. Sheetrock and wood are porous substances that will probably have to be removed when mold has penetrated it. Make no mistake about the danger to your health where mold is concerned. It has been found to be life threatening if the problem is not handled appropriately.

Many mold dilemmas due to water damage may be handled on your own. Remove and get rid of any items you can that has got mold on it. Materials such as paper or card board boxes grow mold easily when they have been wet a while. Be smart and have on protective clothing, gloves, and a breathing mask as you get rid of the mold. Using mold killing products are vital to ensure that you kill it all. When you have not destroyed all mold in the area, or if the dampness comes back, it will continue to develop. It is a good safety measure to return to look at the place a few times to be sure it has not started growing again and extra treatment needed.

In places such as the bathroom, kitchen, and many times, the basement, there is likely to be a lot of moisture in the air. If you do not have proper ventilation in these rooms, mold will eventually develop and even when killed it will always redevelop until you install these fans. The exhaust vents are a great item to correct some mold situations in a basement, kitchen, or bathroom.
