Over Watering Your Lawn can Harm your House

For those who live in drought prone areas, keeping a lawn wet enough will be the most consistent problem when it comes to getting the lush green lawn they want. For anyone who resides in a place where there can be too much rain and snow, the problem can be just the reverse. Although a dried up, burnt yard will not be very attractive to gaze upon, neither is a yard that is always constantly soggy and squishy.

If a yard has inadequate landscaping and you are in a damp climate, it will play havoc on the yard. Water can stand for quite a few days at a time when there is a heavy rain. If the water is always standing around your house, this will be an even bigger and more devastating issue. When water is left to stand near the base of the home, it can inevitably create leaking in the foundation. This might permit water to accumulate under your house where the crawl space is or it will allow leaking or flooding in the basement.

Crawlspace and basement flooding can normally be taken care of if the landscaping and drainage in the lawn is done the right way. Gutters may be one of the easiest solutions to help diminish the amount of water that may stand too near to a house foundation. Keeping gutters in good repair is a must. It keeps the water that flows off of the roof headed in the right direction away from a foundation and this is what they were made to do.

Even with proper gutter installation and maintenance, if the ground around your residence foundation slants downward toward the residence, water will continue to accumulate and puddle there. The slope of the yard must be higher close to the base of the house foundation and gradually run downwards. This permits water to drain away from the home on all sides.

If the yard is apt to accumulate water to near the house, you must either fix the problem yourself or hire a yard care expert to fix it for you. Not only will you have a more pleasant yard to walk on, less issues with harmful bugs like mosquitoes, but you will be protecting the residence foundation and stopping possible structural destruction too.

Structural damage to a house foundation is usually due to water problems. Ensuring your landscaping is slanted correctly might save you thousands of dollars in expensive repairs to the house later. Structural devastation to a house will absolutely devastate its worth.
