Squamous Cell Carcinoma Colon- Some Basic Information

Squamous Cell carcinoma is one of the most common forms of skin cancer. It can occur in various parts of your body like skin, mouth, lips, urinary bladder, esophagus, vagina, prostate, lungs, and cervix. Squamous Cell Carcinoma Colon is often referred as to that cancer which occurs in areas like cervix, vagina, urinary bladder. This condition basically occurs in the upper layer of the skin which is termed as squamous cell. In fact one of the most common areas where these cancers occur is lower lip and rim of the ear. Although squamous cell carcinoma is not that serious it can become one if not treated at the right time. If this disease is recognized and diagnosed early it can certainly be cured. As regards the causes there are many but they vary according to individual. One of the most common reasons of squamous cell carcinoma is sunlight. As a matter of fact in around 90 percent of the cases exposure to sunlight is the reason for the disorder. People who work outdoors or have to spend a lot of time outside their house, or people who live in an area where the intensity of sunlight is much more are more prone to squamous cell carcinoma. Also people who spend a lot of time in tanning booths are at risk of getting this skin cancer. People who have a fair complexion, light hair, green, blue or gray eyes are more at risk of catching this skin cancer. Medical researches have shown that Hispanics, Asians as well as Africans are at a lesser risk of getting squamous cell carcinoma. Another study says that this skin cancer is also an inherited one. If you have a history of squamous cell carcinoma then you are also a strong contender for it. People who have certain diseases like HIV or AIDS are at greater risk of getting squamous cell carcinoma as their immune system is much weaker. Squamous cell carcinoma growth is rough, thick, shallow and horny when it first appears. Also they can ulcerate. The skin around the areas of infection is changed. It loses its pigmentation, elasticity and also gets wrinkled. This condition requires immediate treatment and you should always look for symptoms. The symptoms are also called pre-cancer conditions. This includes actinic keratosis, leukoplakia, actinic chelitis, and also Bowen's disease. Any change in your skin in the form of mole, eczema or a sore that do not heal should not be taken lightly. Early treatment for not only cancer but any type of disease increases your chances of early recovery. The same is also true for squamous cell carcinoma colon also. Treatment for this type of cancer is basically a surgical procedure like chemotherapy.
