Before I start it is important to know the basics about Network cables. Firstly they are quite long. Secondly they're twice as long as the middle to the end. Erm Ok this might not be much help. My point is that finding the right network cables can be a daunting task - especially to the uninitiated. So how do you know what network cables best suit you and where to get them for your office? Well here of course. Fortunately for you I have taken the time to research everything you need to know about network cables. I've also gone to the trouble of writing all my findings down. So read on!
Cable management is the term for the organisation of cable. It can cover the important step of installing your cabling properly. Good preparation should help you avoid cabling becoming tangled. If done effectively it should help prevent cables accidently becoming unplugged - which can happen if cables become tangled and are not stored effectively. It is extremely important to get your cable management right. It is of particular importance to IT, communications, power distribution, facility wiring and other companies that use a large number of cables. Managing cable is extremely important in hospitals and medical centres as poor cable management can cause a great risk to patients and staff.
Cables come in many shapes and sizes and can meet a variety of needs. Some of the types of cables on the market are as follows ethernet patch cable, fibre optic cable, patch cable and phone cable. Each of these types of cable performs a different action. For example an Ethernet crossover cable might be utilised for connecting computing devices together that would normally be connected through a hub, router or network switch. They usually contain a single wire for transmission in each direction.
Fibre optic cables allow large amounts of data to be transferred over a longer distance. They allow the transfer of more information. They are used ahead of metal wires as they do not experience interference and they experience less loss. The wires work by reflecting light down the cables. Total internal reflection keeps light in the "core" of the optical fibre. Joining fibre optic cables to other fibre optic cables or computer devices is much more complex that other types of cable connection. This is because the cable needs to be very carefully spliced together mechanically and then fused together using an electric arc. Manufacturers make special connectors to make these connections easier.
Patch cable refers to cable that can be used to patch in an electrical or optical device to another. Different types of connection are made with patch chords. Network cables are available in an expansive range of colours. Perhaps you might be after a red, green, black, grey, blue, white, or yellow cable.
