Actions Exhibit Faith Characteristics By Jim Brown
By actions some people mispresent their faith. Their faith might not condone such behavior as smoking, speaking foul language or having sex with someone outside the boundaries of Holy Matrimony. These actions exhibit faith characteristics that are weak and unsubstantiated and are viewed by everyone in their faith to be against the laws of God and Man.
Some people who think they are strong in their faith will be offended by these actions. Their negative attitudes and closed minds will only serve to drive the person further away from the light that God lit when he placed his Son's life on the line so many years before. Charity is one characteristic that helps people draw others into the fold and Hope is another characteristic that helps to keep people there.
There are some characteristics that might straddle the lines of faith. Some people view gambling as a source of entertainment but at the same time it allows people to participate in activities that are against their faith. During the gambling process some people might gamble on more than winning. Their gambling might affect their soul ever reaching Heaven because of the greed that is in their hearts when they are pursuing a jackpot worth millions.
The places we go and the people we meet will affect our faith too. Many people do wrong and act inappropriate when they are away from home. They probably learned from their parents the importance of associating with people who exhibited strong characters of faith. These people have a choice to make on whether they will listen to the teachings of their faith.
Some people make the wrong choice and when we associate with people who are intent on hurting others, we are exhibiting characteristics that are not favorable to the faith that we have in our hearts or the one that we were raised with. The caring and love that we should have for our fellow man is blocked by acts of racism and debauchery that is far from the plan that God outlined in the Bible. Some people feel ignored by faith and the world and have nobody to show them the right path to God.
Some people responsible for the care of other people's faith will exhibit actions that are against the characteristics that we hold close to our hearts. They betray their faith by sexually abusing innocent children and are pardoned by an authority that is considered to be most high in a specific faith. The actions exhibit characteristics of faith on the outside but inside the heart of these individuals are a faith that is viewed as deplorable. These acts ruin many lives and people should not be allowed to hide behind the window dressings of faith when the window has already been broken.
