Getting To Know Digital Camera Classes

Digital cameras which are all the hype these days are not constricted into one big class but are known to have several categories which vary in not only in their tiny little parts, in scope and in range but also in purpose.

Video cameras

As the name suggests, video cameras were those created purposely for recording and saving moving images or video. These are further sub-classified into three categories such as professional video cameras, camcorders and webcams. We know all too well that professional video cameras are well handled by those professionally working in the film business a.k.a. productions in televisions and movies. This kind of video cameras have the capacity to enhance and improve the color gamut and the resolution of images captured through the use of multiple image sensors each of every color. Camcorders on the other hand are oftentimes found in the aspiring film maker's hands, amateurs. Typically, camcorders feature a small liquid crystal display wherein which the video can be watched and played back with a teeny microphone to record sounds. Webcams are less immobile as they are generally connected to the computer and are more commonly used during video conferences and live chats.

Live-preview digital cameras

Digital still cameras are usually synonymous with live-preview digital cameras. Armed with an electronic screen, live-preview digital cameras allow one to preview and frame in the image as according to his preference before actually capturing the shot. This same screen which uses a liquid crystal display also allows one to view the pictures and shots already taken. Further, this kind of camera permits one to transfer those pictures and images to a personal computer or to a printer through the use of a USB mass storage device class or a picture transfer protocol, whichever is more appropriate.

Compact digital cameras

Petite and conveniently portable, compact cameras are ideal for regular photo enthusiasts on the go. This type of camera is perfect for use in capturing those happy and treasured moments in family get-togethers, reunions, birthdays and all other occasions where you can just simply approach anyone, say cheese and capture those wonderful smiles. Compact digital cameras were created with the intent to provide ease in its usage although sometimes picture quality and other features may be sacrificed because of its minimalism. If you are choosy and meticulous enough to check your compact digital camera upon purchase, you might want to look into these features: a built-in flash, a motion picture capability and zoom capability.

Digital rangefinders

It is named as such because this class of digital cameras is with an optical mechanism which can be manipulated by the user to measure the distance between him and his subject to get the most optimum shot. This optical mechanism is called a rangefinder. The distance is measured with the use of acoustic or electronic techniques. For people who are quite determined to get that aimed picture scope and scale, then getting a digital rangefinder may be their best digital camera bet yet.
