4 Steps To Managing Stress Better

They say that well begun is half done, and this saying is definitely applicable where stress management is concerned. The first thing you need to do is recognize the factors that are causing you the stress. That is half the battle won. We all do face stress at some point of our lives or the other, be it a seemingly petty issue of reaching the movies ten minutes after the show has begun or as serious an issue as money lenders landing up at your doorstep to recover their loan.

We all need to find our own unique patterns of stress and then work towards getting rid of the stressful factors. The fact that you have taken the trouble of reading this article is testimony to the fact that you want help to reduce the stress in your life. But that wont help you much, thou it IS a start. You need to find ways to manage your stress to bring down the level of stress efficiently.

The first step would be to make a list of all the factors that cause you stress and put them all down on paper. Maybe you are not even aware of some of the issues, or maybe you cannot remember them till you are already in the situation. In such case, it would be great if you could get the help of close family members or friends who could help you make this list. Once you've got the list down, you need to keep in mind that what methods may have helped some one else get over their stress may not work for you, so it may be a little bit of a trial and error thing at first, but do not lose heart. Keep trying various methods consciously until you arrive at that which works well for you. Experts believe that the following measures can help you manage your stress effectively:

1. Once you've got your goals down on paper, break them up into sub categories of time frames. This will motivate you to work towards seemingly smaller goals, and milestone by milestone, you will achieve the larger goal. It also helps you stay on schedule and on track. Don't forget to pat your self on the back every time you reach one of these silent destinations in your life.

2. Lose the negative attitude during your time even if something goes wrong with the stress management plan.

3. Keep an eye open for causes that can make you feel negative. Maybe they should be part of your stress management plan?

4. Do not think too much about past mistakes. Shame can never do you any good. Just accept the fact that you've made that mistake and be happy that you have learnt from the experience.
